چکیده

The chloroplast is a photosynthetic organelle in plant cells. The development and function of the chloroplast are regulated by plant hormones, particularly cytokinin as a positive regulator and brassinosteroid as a negative regulator. We would like to clarify the molecular mechanism of chloroplast development regulated by the two phytohormones, and attempts to clarify the mechanism using the approaches in molecular biology and molecular genetics are in progress. Genetic dissection of chloroplast biogenesis and development: an overview.

The chloroplast is essential for photosynthesis and the production of hormones and metabolites. As a consequence, its biogenesis and development needs to be coordinated with seedling growth to ensure optimal rates of photosynthesis without oxidative damage upon seedling emergence. Studies into the processes of biogenesis and development of chloroplasts have shown how important chloroplast devel...

Transcriptome and proteomic analyses reveal multiple differences associated with chloroplast development in the spaceflight-induced wheat albino mutant mta

Chloroplast development is an integral part of plant survival and growth, and occurs in parallel with chlorophyll biosynthesis. However, little is known about the mechanisms underlying chloroplast development in hexaploid wheat. Here, we obtained a spaceflight-induced wheat albino mutant mta. Chloroplast ultra-structural observation showed that chloroplasts of mta exhibit abnormal morphology an...

A Young Seedling Stripe2 phenotype in rice is caused by mutation of a chloroplast-localized nucleoside diphosphate kinase 2 required for chloroplast biogenesis

Chloroplast development and chlorophyll (Chl) biosynthesis in plants are regulated by many genes, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely elusive. We isolated a rice mutant named yss2 (young seedling stripe2) with a striated seedling phenotype beginning from leaf 2 of delayed plant growth. The mutant developed normal green leaves from leaf 5, but reduced tillering and chlorotic l...

A novel protein RLS1 with NB-ARM domains is involved in chloroplast degradation during leaf senescence in rice.

Leaf senescence, a type of programmed cell death (PCD) characterized by chlorophyll degradation, is important to plant growth and crop productivity. It emerges that autophagy is involved in chloroplast degradation during leaf senescence. However, the molecular mechanism(s) involved in the process is not well understood. In this study, the genetic and physiological characteristics of the rice rl...
